Reportedly, James Martin discovered the ‘hangover cure’ at an American diner while abroad.
The hearty creation debuted on his show Home Comforts earlier this year.
A bacon-lover from the Nottingham Post was game enough to have a crack at the gut buster, and filmed her attempt.
The mouthwatering recipe, which serves four, includes gruyere cheese and a sweet brioche bun.

You will need:
12 rashers of thinly-sliced pancetta or streaky bacon

slices of brioche
4 large slices of gruyere cheese
2 tbsp maple syrup (plus extra for serving)
2 eggs
1 tsp caster sugar
150ml whole milk
50g unsalted butter
What to do:
1. Fry the pancetta in a warm pan. Don't add oil - you really won’t need it.
2. Once cooked, add 2tbsp of maple syrup to the pan.
3. Pour 150ml of full fat milk into a separate pan and mix with two eggs.
4. Slice the brioche bun into halves. Then start build the sandwiches with gruyere cheese and the pancetta.
5. Melt butter in the pan while it is still hot.
6. Dip the sandwich in your egg & butter mixture then pop it in the pan.
7. Pan-fry until the cheese is melted and brioche is toasted.
8. Serve up and enjoy!
