Proving you can’t beat a classic, 21 per cent of Brit drinkers have revealed that tucking in to a fry-up at their local greasy spoon cafe is their favourite way to cure their stinking hangover.
So while the idea of tucking into eggs, sausage and bacon might make you queasy, there is method in the madness.
Professor James Schaefer told WebMD last year that fatty foods help to ‘grease’ the stomach, stopping alcohol from being absorbed as quickly.
However munching on carbohydrates the morning after do help blood sugar levels to increase, which is the first step to recovery.
After research showed the average Brit boozer spends two years recovering after a night out, alcohol delivery service Booze Up quizzed 1,000 people to find out their best ways to beat those hangover headaches.
Following closely behind in second was taking painkillers, with 19 per cent swearing by the cheap and cheerful method.
Drinking water helps to rehydrate after boozing
Sticking to anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen or aspirin is better, especially as they help to reduce swelling, and soothe those aches.
For 15 per cent, water is what they recommend.
Guzzling water is only not good for your health generally but will help your body to rehydrate. Experts recommend alternating between water and your chosen tipple while drinking to help reduce the effects the next morning.
Sleeping it off is the top tip from 13 per cent of Brits, who reckon a lie-in helps their body to recover.

Six per cent even admitted that reaching for another pint was their solution.
While the idea of reaching for your gym kit might not be riveting for some, some experts reckon sex may help - because it releases endorphins.
